St Louis School Meeting with iKeepSafe and Law Enforement Today

iKeepSafe’s Generation Safe™ offers a vast resource library, complete with articles, recommended URLs, and videos. One of the videos features Captain Kirk S. Marlowe, Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation High Tech Crimes Division.

During this video, Captain Marlowe discusses the unfortunate reality of educators and law enforcement officers sometimes harboring negative stereotypes about each other. He emphasizes how both parties can overcome their misperceptions through meeting and talking with one another. Neither discipline has all of the answers, and in fact, both need to collaborate with each other and with parents to successfully keep students safe online.

Today, a team of Maryland educators from St. Louis Catholic School are doing exactly what Captain Marlowe suggests.

Subscribers of Generation Safe™ since September, the St. Louis Catholic School has invited iKeepSafe CEO & President Marsali Hancock, ICAC Lt. Willhelm, and ICAC Task Force Officer Gary Mounts to their campus to talk more about digital citizenship.  iKeepSafe Program Associate Shannon Seeger will also be in attendance.

During this informal meeting, the educators will ask questions, specifically around how they can engage with parents and community to foster a safe digital environment.

Captain Marlowe predicts that this type of meeting will help create a strong network of support where all stakeholders in the community work together. You can learn more about the intersection between law and education by visiting the Generation Safe website.
