NORWALK, CT, Mar 25 (MARKET WIRE) --
Symantec (NASDAQ: SYMC), makers of Norton security software, and the Internet
Keep Safe Coalition, a national non-profit organization committed to
Internet safety, invited Connecticut Lt. Governor, Michael Fedele, to
participate
in an Internet safety program and recognized him with the Internet Keep Safe
Award
for his efforts towards keeping Connecticut's children safe online. Symantec
Internet
Safety Advocate Marian Merritt presented the award to Fedele at a "Norton
Connected & Protected Kids' Assembly" attended by more than 100 students,
parents and teachers of Kendall Elementary.

Lt. Governor Fedele has spoken to numerous schoolchildren, both on
locationand while at the Capitol on field trips, encouraging them to learn to
use
acomputer while also being aware of the dangers facing children. Governor M.
Jodi
Rell recently signed into a law a bill that increases penalties for child
predators and establishes a new crime that requires a mandatory 25-year prison
sentence for those who sexually abuse a child under thirteen.

"Being a business owner of a computer company, I understand the
educationalopportunities the internet offers, but as a parent I also understand
the
dangers," said Lt. Governor Fedele. "Being at Kendall Elementary School for
this assembly is another opportunity to discuss Internet safety awareness with
our children. I'm proud to be part of Governor Rell's efforts to bring
awareness to such a serious safety issue. Governor Rell, the law enforcement
community, the legal community and the legislature have worked tirelessly to
protect our children from online predators."

The Faux Paw Internet safety curriculum was sponsored by Symantec and
created
in partnership with Penn State's Dept. of Education and a global team of
educators. Consisting of children's books and animated DVDs, the program was
created specifically for elementary school children and follows the adventures
of
Faux Paw the Techno Cat, a curious, Web-surfing cat who teaches kids how to
keep safe online. Online tutorials for teachers and parents covering topics
such as social networking, cyberbullying and general tips about how to help
kids have a safe and healthy experience online are also available as part of the
curriculum from iKeepSafe and Symantec.

"Lt. Governor Fedele's efforts, along with the school's programs, are
critical to keeping children safe online," said Marian Merritt, Internet Safety
Advocate, Symantec. "Symantec is thrilled to partner with iKeepSafe to support
the
efforts of these organizations."

Parents can visit the Norton Family Resources Web site
