Since February when I blogged about Trend Micro’s
“What’s Your Story?” contest, many of you have probably wondered who would win the
$10,000 grand prize. Perhaps some of you even entered the contest or participated by viewing and rating the videos.
Finally, the suspense is over. This morning, Trend Micro announced the 7 winners—1 grand prize winner and 6 runner-up winners. The video submissions were all between 30 seconds to 2 minutes in length and are on the following important Internet safety topics:
• Being a good online citizen
• Using a mobile phone wisely
• Maintaining your online privacy
When asked how this year compared to last year’s contest, Lynette Owens, Director of Trend Micro’s Micro’s Internet Safety for Kids and Families (ISKF) program said they had doubled the number of views (over 100,000 and counting!) and that they reached a younger audience this year.
Trend Micro hopes that schools will use these videos (as long as correct attribution is given), and that youth will learn to become advocates of positive Internet use.
You can watch the grand prize winning video, “Where are You?” below. Lynette explained, “Because we had so good many submissions, it was difficult to narrow down the winner to only one video. However, this video really moves me. It discusses the elements of being a good online citizen in a very positive way.”
